By G.Q. Stores Ref. 15A/156 (pack alone) or 15A/141 (with canopy). Two point detachable chest pack c.1943. Attaches to the Observer type harness by the engagement of a pair of steel loops with a pair of hooded snap-hooks located on the chest. This example is manufactured in the usual sandy coloured plain weave duck canvas. It is complete with all the webbing grab handles, rip-cord flap and rip-cord handle housing. The label is marked 'OBSERVER PARACHUTE, Two Point Quick Connector, G.Q. Serial No. 78081'.
The pack is in excellent clean condition. It is fitted with the original/correct metalwork for attaching to the harness, a full set of bungee cords and ripcord/handle. It also contains the original G.Q. silk canopy with matching serial number 78081, December 1943 date and King's crown Air Ministry marks. Unfortunately this is incomplete with much of panels 3 to 16 missing, as are the rigging lines. Nevertheless it is original to the pack and serves to improve the shape and appearance. Unusually this pack still has the service record card in place (1944 print date),filled out with matching serial number (76081) and showing a service inspection in February 1946. Excellent used condition overall. Extremely difficult to find. Stock code M8809.
