Scarce 78rpm recording from The British Broadcasting Corporation.  One side has sounds of the Lancastrian Transport Plane (2 Merlin and 2 Nene Jet engines).  These include engine starting and revving, the Merlins being cut-off and the jet engines running at cruising speed.  The label is overstamped 'Bristol Effects' and dated 15 September 1961.  Some minor scratches and scuffs visible.  Unfortunately we do not have facilities to test this item.  78s were manufactured from shellac until the late 1940s after which polyvinyl chloride discs (vinyl) were introduced.  78s tend to be relatively heavy and fragile when compared with standard 33rpm discs.  Stock code M27183-50.
