Operation Fortitude Secret plans/drawing for dummy 15 cwt Truck, 1943

Code: P16886

RESERVED

Original copy of drawings by Zena Walker who helped design dummy (fake) Allied equipment to confuse the enemy.  This sheet illustrates 'Device No.28', a completely fake 15 cwt Truck installation utilising a simple frame and hessian fabric.  The use of such dummy vehicles played an important role during WW2, helping to convince the enemy of Allied strength and divert attention.  Such subterfuge was used before D-day as part of Operation Fortitude when inflatable rubber tanks, aircraft, guns and the like were placed to convince the enemy that troops would launch an attack on Norway and north east of Normandy in the Pas de Calais. Approximately 78 x 55cm.  Scale 1/2" - 1', dated 24th July 1943, it shows elevations and plan views of the 'fake' truck and gives details of the materials required.  Folded and has dog-eared edges/corners with some loss of paper but in good overall condition.  Super reference material.  Rare.  Stock code P16886.
