The Keeper of the Crown Jewels is responsible for running the Jewel House which houses the priceless British Crown Jewels within the Tower of London. This historic role has, at various points, been called Master or Treasurer of the Jewel House, Master or Keeper of the Crown Jewels, Master or Keeper of the Regalia, and Keeper of the Jewel House. Here we are offering a 'Working Pattern' (sometimes referred to as a sealed patten) button for the uniform worn by the person in office. A working pattern is used to ensure that the manufacturer makes the item in question to the exact specifications of this 'original' piece - essentially a template to ensure no variation. The button here is mounted on the original working pattern card via cotton tape and sealed with wax such that it cannot be removed. The card is marked 'N.I.N. 690 - STANDARD - WORKING PATTERN 3 O/S No828 Buttons: Gilt Small (Crown Pattern), Keeper of the Crown Jewels'.
