RAF aircraft rudder pedals/control column

Offers Invited

Large airframe section comprised of the rudder pedals and control column from an RAF used aircraft.  Constructed from  metal alloy riveted and bolted together.  The main section is approximately 80 x 25 x 12cm.  The rudder bars are approximately 55cm wide and increase the height of the whole section to about 35cm.  With the control column in place the maximum height is around 87cm.  There are numerous manufacturer's marks and stamps including 'SB & HR' on the pedals (Short Brothers, Rochester) and 'SA' marks on other parts.  Much speculation has been made as to what aircraft these came from with experts in the field telling me the column is very 'Fairey', that other parts are of similar construction to 'Hawker' airframes and so on.  Aircraft as diverse as the WW2 Fairey 'Battle' and Fairey 'Barracuda', post WW2 Short 'Sturgeon' and Scottish Aviation 'Pioneer' have been suggested!  Judging by the stamps, the pedals would seem to have been made to a standard design by Short Brothers; as for the rest, more research is needed.
Overall condition is very good, much of the original paint remains, both the control column and pedals move freely, the latter complete with rubber foot straps with moulded 'Palmer' logo.  These have some cracks but remain pliable.  The control column is tubular, straight and painted black.  The control grip (stick top/spade grip) shown in some of the photographs is NOT included in the sale.  An impressive airframe section that could be the start of a larger project.  Sensible offers invited.  Quite large but not particularly heavy.  Collection preferred but can be shipped worldwide.  Stock code M25445.
