RAF Type E* Oxygen Mask, Tube & Wiring

Code: O15986

SOLD

Stores Ref. 6D/473.  This is the later pattern variant of the E-mask complete with anti-suffocation/inspiratory valve and having an elasticated webbing harness in place of the earlier leather types.  The rubber is in very good condition with only minor cracking around the microphone oroface and anti-suffocation valve.  There is also minor cracking and some rubber loss at the edges of the mask.  This is most noticable at the nose region - see photos.  The overall shape is good and the rubber remains pliable.  Air Ministry reference numbers are evident in the facepiece moulding and additional stamped markings.  The chamois inner edging is complete, but the upper section appears to have been replaced at some point.  The harness looks good but is rather faded and has lost elasticity.  The press-studded leather section is very good.  The mask is fitted with a good type 28 carbon microphone assembly (type 27 mic 10A/12572) with full external wiring loom, early brown cased jackplug and matched type 32 receivers (10A/13466) - all in very good used condition.  Also  comes with the correct thinner diameter corrugated rubber oxygen tube, secured with the original cadmium plated wire ring clip.  The tube has cracking within the folds but is in sound condition and complete with brass bayonet connector and cadmium plated 'crocodile' clothing clip. Please note that this mask is guaranteed to be 100% original (bar chamois section as noted above) and should not be confused with the 'hybrid' masks that have been offered elsewhere in recent years. Those  have original metalwork and harnesses but brand new/reproduction rubber facepieces and linings.  A very good and complete used mask.  Additional photos available on request.  Stock code O15986.
