WW1 Imperial German Flying Helmet
Typical German Air Service flying helmet in soft brown leather lined with short fleece. It features small roll back earpieces that can be press-studded open or closed. It also has an extended neck section. Friction buckled chinstrap. The only markings are on the back of the rivet that secures the buckle (Pat. No. Germany and something illegible). The leather shows wear and abrasion in places but is extremely flexible. The lining is lightly soiled but in very good overall condition bar some wear around the edges of the helmet. A good example of this early helmet. See p.138 of \'Vintage Flying Helmets\' for a near identical example. Stock code H15462.
