R.A.F. Electrically Wired Irvin Flying Jacket -19

Stores ref. 22c/109. Size 7 (next to largest available). Physically measures approx. 48 so should be OK for around a 44 chest. Classic early wired example with single panel fronts and a \'four-piece\' back. The leather is in very good overall condition retaining much of the original chromed finish and flexibility. Other than a tiny hole in the left arm (less then the end of a pencil) there are no tears, damage, other holes or repairs. All of the stitching and seams appear good and tight. The finish and appearance could no doubt be enhanced further with a light application of leather dressing. Excellent short dense pale tan coloured fur. The cuff fur shows quite a bit of wear - particularly at the back (see photos). The waist fur trim is still quite good. The jacket retains original brass \'D-o-T\' marked zips all with the original leather pull tags. The belt is also in good condition. This example has a chain hanger, collar strap/rings and eyelets to the rear of the collar for the elastic \'collar strap\' (not present). The jacket was manufactured as an electrically wired example with leather channels housing the wiring that enabled connection to heated gloves & via matching wired trousers, to electrically heated boots/boot liners. The wiring is still in place under the leather \'channels\' but the \'pig-tail\' connection leads and plugs have been carefully removed. The metal \'posts\' & 2-pin plugs on the sleeve ends intended for securing RAE heated gloves remain in place. Nice Air Ministry label with 1940 date code. Overall this is a very good early war example in a rare large size. Available once more due to buyer\'s unforseen circumstances. Stock code J16351.
