R.A.F. Irvin Flying Jacket - Early Pattern

Physically measures approx. 48 so should be OK for around a 44 chest. Classic early example with single panel fronts and just one centre seam on the back of the jacket. The leather is generally in very good condition retaining much of the original chromed finish and flexibility. There is some thinning of the leather at the shoulders and sadly, some damage/tears to the right arm (see photos) plus a small stitched repair to the same arm (see photo). Other than these there are no tears, damage, holes or repairs. All of the stitching and seams appear good and tight. Excellent short dense pale tan coloured fur. The cuff & waist fur shows considerable wear. The jacket retains original \'D-o-T\' marked zips all with the original leather pull tags. Unfortunately the lower portion of one side of the main zip is damaged. It can be done up with care but for regular use would certainly require attention. The belt shows wear and use but is undamaged. This example has a leather hanger (unstitched at one end), collar strap (rings are missing), and eyelets to the rear of the collar for the elastic \'collar strap\' (not present). Despite the problems this is still a good looking large jacket and would make an excellent display piece. With some attention it could be made suitable for wearing. Stock code J11645.
