Approx. 30cm tall, 27cm diameter nickel silver plated bell with distinctive 'Crown' top. Engraved with Air Ministry (A.M.) , King's Crown and 1942 date. The bell has been coated in a yellowish varnish at some stage but the plating appears to fine beneath. As always there are various knocks, scratches and pock marks from use. Complete with the often missing clapper. In addition there is a screw-in hanging eyelet to the top. Amongst other roles these were used to 'scramble' fighter pilots to their aircraft and can be seen in many period films and photographs. An excellent addition to any collection. Very heavy.
