The cloth is generally in reasonable condition and is clean. As with most D-masks this example is peppered with moth damage. There has been some makeshift repairwork undertaken in the worst area - notably to the right of the nose (as worn) where there is rather crude darning. That side of the mask has a few other small 'snagged' areas but nothing serious. The lower panel has a few small frayed areas but again, nothing serious. The left side of the mask (as worn) has a smallish darned area on the cheek and a few small frayed spots. The lining has a few small holes but is generally clean and in very good condition. The mask has been fitted with a very good pair of 'face protector' press stud strips. There would appear to be minor fraying/damage to the edges of the mask beneath these. The microphone mounting ring is in excellent order, without significant paint loss and is fully stamped with reference numbers. Not fitted with a microphone or wiring but these can be supplied at extra cost if required. The overall shape of the mask is very good and ideal for display. Whilst not the greatest example it isn't too tatty either and it should be possible to improve the larger darned repair to improve further.
