RAF E-type Flying Helmet, Late Patt. History

RAF E-type Flying Helmet, Late Patt. History

Code: SOLD-849

SOLD
Unknown size but appears to be a 3 or 4. The aertex cloth is in very good overall condition showing fairly light use and soiling only. Both rubber receiver carriers have stiffened and have relatively minor deterioration/perishing at the edges. The interior of the helmet/inner chamois donuts indicates similar light use. The chinstrap has faded and lost some elasticity. All the goggle straps are reasonably good but the press stud poppers have lost most of the brown coatings and have soft verdigris deposits around the edges. Fully wired with a mid tan loom, matched receivers and jackplug. This helmet belonged to a DFC awarded 25 Squadron Mosquito night fighter pilot with 3 'kills' - a Ju88 (Oct. 1943), a Ju188 (March 1944) & a V-1 (July 1944). Purchased directly from his daughter. Further information supplied to the buyer. A good example. Stock code H17689..
