RAF Irvin Flying Jacket

RAF Irvin Flying Jacket

Code: SOLD-144

SOLD

Approx. size 36/38". Triple panelled fronts and each side of the rear centre seam suggesting mid to late war manufacture. The leather of the main body is generally very good and supple retaining a reasonable amount of the original chrome finish. It would improve dramatically with some leather dressing. The sleeves are not so good. While they are still supple and free of damage they have lost a fair amount of chroming leaving a white-ish suede-like finish. Again, this could be improved with leather dressing (even more if you were prepared to dye the leather). The main zip is completely missing having been carefully removed. Both sleeve zips are Air Ministry marked, c/w leather puller tags and in good working order. The dense mid tan fur is excellent and there is still a reasonable amount remaining at the cuffs and waist. The jacket retains its original belt and collar strap/rings in good used condition. Most seams appear good and tight with the exception of the centre collar seam that has 'opened'. With a zip fitted this would be a wearable jacket but it could do with some work to improve the appearance of the sleeves. Stock code J11182.
