Stores Ref. 5C/769. By Landor. 2-way tumbler switch. 5 Amp white vitreous enamelled porcelain base with brown bakelite cover & brass toggle switch. The latter has a screw thread within the end - possibly for a larger switch to be screwed in place? Nicely marked with A.Crown M. & reference code 5C/769. This would look great in a collection room but do consult a qualified electrician if you intend to use it as a lightswitch. I have been advised by someone more knowledgeable then me on these that they may also have been used as aircraft switches. Apparantly they were used in aeroplanes from the same period (1930s/40s) for use with electrical systems. They go as far back as the Great War, although 5C reference numbers are a later detail & the switches may have been revised a time or two since then. Some tarnishing of the toggle switch otherwise in very good used condition. Stock code M18138.
