Original pencil design for the signage on the Building Works block at Vaernes Luftwaffe base in Norway. Approx. 70 x 70cm overall. Pencil on thick tracing/layout type paper. Vaernes (Trondheim) airfield was surrended to the Germans in April 1940 and used throughout the war. This and other drawings and Luftwaffe kit/equipment were 'liberated' by a RAF Spitfire/Mustang/Hurricane pilot stationed at Vaernes at the end of the war and purchased directly from him around 20 years ago. Truly unique and guaranteed original. This was a working sketch/drawing and has been folded/creased. It has some edge tears but is generally in good condition.
