By the Parr Manufacturing Co. Approximately 5cm long x 2.5cm diameter. This is an ingeniously designed lighter containing a hidden escape/evasion compass. Often referred to as a 'lipstick lighter' for obvious reasons, these were manufactured in brass with a virtually undetectable inner brass sleeve concealing a standard 0.5" MI9 pattern compass. The lighter was completely functional even with the compass in position. Some were made with a plain brass case but others had painted 'caps' like this example, with various colours being used. There is light wear and scratching to the painted cap but otherwise in excellent unused condition and has never had fuel added. Some of the luminous dots on the compass have come loose and can be seen on the inner base of the casing but the rotor functions strongly/well. Manufacturer's marks to the base.
