External flying helmet wiring loom. Stores reference 10A/10353. Type Q instrument cord, wired to a type 27 carbon microphone (type 28 when 'mounted' as here) ready in this case for fitting to a type D oxygen mask. The type 27, stores reference 10A/12572, was sometimes used with the E-series, type G oxygen masks and the second pattern microphone carrier masks. Unusually, this example is attached to a scarce 'Type 54' rubber adaptor that would have allowed this set-up to be used with a Type D oxygen mask. The light tan coloured loom is in very good condition, lightly soiled but undamaged. It is fitted with an early brown cased type 119 bell jackplug, stores reference 10A/10991. The microphone retains very good shape but has paint loss and the type 54 adaptor is rock hard with some loss at the edges. It will not be possible to fit this to a mask. It could be displayed 'as is' or remove the adaptor to use the loom/mic with another type of mask as outlined above. Stock code H20589.
