External flying helmet wiring loom. Stores reference 10A/10353. Type Q instrument cord (loom) wired to a type 20 microphone (type 21 when 'mounted' as here) ready for fitting to a type D or occasionally a modified type E series mask. The type 20, stores reference 10A/11994 has a black painted alloy casing and is often referred to as the '1941' pattern although it was actually introduced in October 1940. It is in very good overall condition retaining much original paint and Air Ministry and King's Crown markings to the front face. The microphone also retains an original rubber band at the back of the casing. The unusual 2-tone light tan coloured loom is generally in very good condition bar light fraying where the 'branches' occur.
