External flying helmet wiring loom.  Stores reference 10A/10353.  Type Q instrument cord (loom) wired to a type C carbon microphone, stores reference 10A/9004.  Technically here, it's a 'Microphone, mask, type E' (ref. 10A/9003) because the microphone is complete/mounted with wiring and plug.  The microphone consists of a bell-shaped, chamois covered, black painted alloy carrier.  The actual microphone  is mounted within this (10A/7355).  Part of the inside of the carrier is sprayed with powdered cork which acts as an insulator against condensation and noise.  To the base of the carrier are two moulded breathing vents and there is a toggle switch at the top.  This example is in excellent condition with what appears to be the original chamois covering.  These microphones were used with the cloth type D oxygen masks and pre-date the flat-fronted type 18 (type 19 when mounted/wired).  Photographic evidence suggests they saw considerable use during the Battle of France.  The mid tan coloured loom is a little soiled with very minor fraying but is generally excellent and has the 'fully rounded' cords.  Fitted with an excellent early brown cased type 119 bell jackplug, stores reference 10A/10991 and a superb pair of type C receivers, stores reference 10A/7063.  'Receivers, telephone, head, type C' as used with the Type B flying helmet and Type D oxygen mask.  Manufactured in plastic/bakelite moulded over a steel shell with a separate screw on bakelite cover.  All ready for your B-type helmet.  A superb set.  Stock code H16578.
