Belt Pad, Type D, 12 Volt. Stores reference 22c/712. This pad was manufactured in the same brown cotton as the Type D electrically heated waistcoat and attached to it via a series of press studs. This linked the wearer to the aircraft heating system via a wired ubilical and 3-pole alloy plug, stores reference 5C/2202. It shows use and wear with 8 of the 17 studs missing, some verdigris and general soiling. It has a period 'rigger' made modification with the addition of a small switch close to the plug. This would allow the wearer to switch off the current without the bother of unplugging. An extremely rare item. Stock code SDFGF1.
