Japanese Army winter flying suit

Code: S25071

SOLD

One-piece winter issue flying suit in heavy olive drab wool gabardine.  It has a zip fastener from the crotch to the neck and a concealed buttoned fly.  Both sleeves and legs have zip closures.  Buttoned collar flap and 'open' pleat fronted knee pockets.  Zipped side entry pocket slits at the waist.  Belt with white metal single-pronged buckle.  Large zipped pockets on each side of the chest.  Lined throughout with a very soft shaggy shearling and has an ultra-soft animal fur collar.  The material is generally quite good but there are areas of fraying and smallish holes where the fabric is more fragile, this is most notable around the crotch, upper leg, and knee area.  Fraying is evident elsewhere but less significant.  The lower edge of the left knee pocket is partially unstitched.  All of the white metal zips are original, complete with cloth pull tabs, and in excellent working order bar the left ankle which has missing teeth (see photographs). The lining appears to be very good as is the majority of the collar but there is wear and fur loss to the centre rear area.  Good belt/buckle.  The suit is fitted with a leather panel inside at chest level - this has press stud connectors indicating it was originally an electrically wired suit.  There have never been panels at the wrists or ankles.  The main wiring loom has been cut off where it exits the back of the suit.  There are ink-stamped Kanji marks inside the main front zip flap but they are difficult to decipher.  Overall this is in fair to quite good used condition and despite the damage does display well.  Priced accordingly.  Stock code S23368.
