Luftwaffe Sommerfliegerkombi

SOLD

By Karl Heisler of Berlin. Size unknown but certainly not huge. Physically measures approximately 41 - 42" pit to pit (laid flat and zipped) and with a 28" inside leg. One-piece flying suit manufactured in a heavy brown/white flecked cotton commonly referred to as 'salt and pepper'. Fitted with a long diagonal zip fastener from waist to shoulder and with zips at the sleeve and leg ends. It also features zipped leg pockets and side entry slits along with concealed elasticated inner cuffs. This is the second pattern and has the later ring-pull emergency release cord that was introduced so that the wearer could remove the suit quickly without the need to undo any zips. It also features a vertically positioned fly zip. Overall condition is reasonably good.  The cloth is  soiled/marked and there are a couple of small fray holes in the stomach area, a small hole at the edge of the main zip closure flap and a few holes at the back & sleeves (see photos).  In addition the sleeve/ankle ends are frayed, the inner cuffs lack elastication and there is a small period patch on the inner left leg (adjacent to the zip).  Most of the press stud poppers retain a good amount of original finish and all the zips are original ZIPP brand, complete with leather puller tabs and in good working order. The suit retains the original quick release ring pull and cord. The leather collar strap is complete but the press studs have some verdigris deposits.  WIth manufacturer's label.  The suit is a bit 'tired' but the overall appearance is reasonably good and it would make an excellent display piece. Priced accordingly. Stock code S21078.
