Kriegsgefangenpost letter sent by Lance Corporal Bevil Woodman (PoW No. 4812), from Stalag XXA, to his parents in Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire. Woodman joined the Leicestershires at the begining of the war, was captured in Norway and spent 5 years as a prisoner of war. Stalag XXA was located in Toruń, German-occupied Poland. Written in pencil on January 22nd 1942 he discusses the receipt of letters, that he is standing in for the padre in camp for the choral society and how he's looking forward to the day he is back home again. After the war he did return to marry his sweetheart. There is a small tear on one of the folds, otherwise very good. With postmark and Stalag XXA Gepruft stamps. Stock code PoW.
