Kriegsgefangenpost postcard sent by Louis Lebeau (PoW No. 917), from Oflag IVA, a  German Prisoner of War camp for officers located in the 15th-century Burg Hohnstein, in Hohnstein, Saxony.  Strangely Lebeau has written Oflag IVC next to his PoW number, IVC being Colditz, the famed 'escape proof' camp that generated many books, a classic TV series and film.  The letter is addressed to his wife in Belgium.  Written in French, in pencil, on 23rd January 1941.   The writing is difficult to read in places but my daughter, who is fluent in French, has translated as follows 'My darling, Today I received your (first?) photo from the 3rd December as well as a postcard from the 6th.  I miss ..?.. from you. I have received everything that you’ve sent me, my darling doll, shame/too bad we’re changing camp, it will delay everything.  Like I told you sweetheart, don’t be surprised if in a weeks time there are bigger gaps between my letters, yours will be the same for me.  I will write to you again before the departure.  Many ..?.. to everyone and for my ..?.. cherished, my most ..?.. kisses. Your loving husband,..?..
Very good condition.  With Oflag IVA Gepruft mark and also stamped 'Exrivez lisiblement et en grande caracteres' (write legibly and in large characters).  Stock code P12032.
