United States Navy Mark I Deck Clock.  By Seth Thomas.  Serial number 16155, 1942 dated.  Approximately 17cm diameter x 8cm depth.  Black bakelite case.  14cm (5.5") black painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial.  Roman numerals and white painted hands.  Platform escapement movement.  Attached via an integral hinge to a black painted wooden baseplate that would have been bolted to the ship's bulkhead.  The movement is accessed via the hinged front section.  Once opened the movement can be wound, regulated, stopped and the hands set.  The clock is currently ticking strongly and keeping accurate time but would probably benefit from a clean/service.  The case is a bit marked but in good condition and although there is dust under the glass, both hands and dial are very good.  These were fitted to various USN vessels including battleships.  A high quality and impressive looking timepiece.  Stock code C27214.
