By E. Gueneau & Cie of Paris. Size 58. French Airaile flying helmet from the interwar/early WW2 period. The helmet is made from a hard shell covered in chromed leather and has soft padded leather flaps extending below this to house Gosport tubes or radio receivers. Lacing within the crown of the helmet and to the rear provides minor size/comfort adjustment. Press studded goggle straps are also provided at the rear of the helmet. Excellent unissued condition without wear, soiling or damage. Lovely clear label in the crown with clear January 1940 date. Also comes with an excellent set of Gosport communications tubes/earpieces. Although somewhat outdated these helmets were used during the 1930s and into the early part of WW2 by the French Air Force, Free French and Paratroop units. Beautiful quality and condition.
