'Headquarters Bomber Command, Royal Air Force, Armament Branch.  Procedure For Arming Of Bombs And Bombing-Up Aircraft'.  Loose-leaf file, approximately 23 x 34cm.  April 1941. 34pp.  Produced with the object of standardizing the procedure for arming bombs such that teams were thoroughly drilled, disciplined and organised, thus minimizing the risks of potentially catastrophic accidents.  It details instructions to regularise the systems employed in the handling of bombs at the bomb compound and the aircraft, and to institute the correct procedure at the fuzing points for the arming of bombs.  There are descriptions of bomb storehouses and compounds, bomb fuzing points, bomb trolleys, bomb hoists and lifting tackle.  It describes the procedures for loading bombs onto trolleys on the 'bomb train' and for arming them.  This covers G.P Mk.IV, MK.I-III, Mk.V series bombs, S.A.P. Mk. I-III & V series bombs, Type 'B' bombs, Types A.S. Mk. I-III, Mk.IV series bombs, Type A.P 2000lb bombs, Type G.P Mk.IV series bombs, Type H.E. 1000lb American bombs and Type H.C. 4000lb bombs.  Details include the removal of detonator tins, removal of tail assemblies and test rotation of the vanes, removal of tail pistols and/or transit plugs, testing of the detonator cavity/fitting of detonator, fitting of pistols, tail assemblies etc.  The document describes the strength of the party to be employed and how the armourers should work in teams to complete tasks.  It also covers procedures for the preparation, testing and fuzing of mines and general procedures for bombing-up aircraft (non-specific).  The card cover is heavily creased and has 'BOMB DUMP - PROCEDURE FOR ARMING OF BOMBS AND BOMBINg UP AIRCRAFT'  handwritten in ink.  The pages are yellowed and have some creasing but are all perfectly legible.  A rare document.  Stock code P21783-75.
