RAF type M oxygen mask/tubes

RAF type M oxygen mask/tubes

Code: O26115

SOLD

Mask, Oxygen, Type M, Mk.2 complete with Microphone Assembly, Type 71, and Mask Tube Assembly, MK.8, incorporating Mod. M326 & M351.  Stores Reference 6D/1837.  April 1959 dated.  Black rubber mask with fabric harness. Also fitted with a mask tube assembly for connection to a pressure waistcoat. These masks were used in early Hunters, Javelins, the Canberra PR9, V-bombers, and the Lightning during the 1950s/60s.  The Type M, MK.2 mask was intended to be used in place of the Type M and J masks.  It was part of the pressure breathing equipment issued and was only to be worn in conjunction with a pressure breathing waistcoat, Mk.1 or Mk.1A.  The facepiece is in very good overall condition, supple, and virtually free of cracking. The harness and loom (microphone assembly type 71 - reference 10AH/18), are equally good.  This mask is fitted with an unusually long oxygen tube (approximately 18"/46cm).  It is in excellent flexible condition and attached to the pressure waistcoat connectors/tube.  Even the original stores reference tag remains in place.  This would appear to be an unused example with some storage/age wear only.  Stock code O26115.
