By Haynes & Cann Ltd. Stores reference 22c/8430 99. Size 280/109 (UK10). One of the last designs from Haynes & Cann who began manufacturing shoes and accessories for motorists in 1919 and started supplying flying boots to the RAF in 1943. This lightweight MK.1 aircrew boot was designed alongside the Ministry of Defence specifically for use with the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. Manufactured in black leather with leather lining, seven eyelet lacing, padded top and one-piece low profile rubber sole/heel patterns to protect the aircraft coatings and actuators. It was designed to be waterprooof, flameproof, anti static, grease and oil resistant and breathable. Unfortunately the MoD soon cancelled the contract due to the sales price and purchased the USA Bellville boot for aviators instead. This resulted in persistant complaints and within 9 months that contract was also terminated. Sadly due to the loss of contract Haynes & Cann were forced to close forever, the Ministry of Defence preferring to buy its equipment abroad in a bid to save costs. Unissued old stock in excellent condition throughout. Stock code B27007.
