Rare uniform to Air Commodore Geoffrey Nicolas Ernest Tindal Carill-Worsley, CB, CBE, M.I.D. (2), i.d.c., j.s.s.c.  He was born on 8th June 1908, son of Philip and Clementia Tindal-Carill-Worsley and the first cousin of Group Captain Nicolas Tindal-Carill-Worsley.  Educated at Eton College and RAF College, Cranwell.  He was a flight cadet at RAF College, Cranwell in 1926 and commissioned into the RAF in 1928 joining 3 (fighter) Squadron as a Pilot Officer.  In January 1930 he was promoted to Flying Officer and posted for armament duties with No.20 Army Co-operation Squadron on Bristol fighters.  In January 1933 he had qualified as Armament Officer at Andover, Hampshire and was posted for the same duties at Cranwell the following year.  During 1936/7 he was a Staff Officer at the Joint Directorate of Scientific Research and Technical Development, Air Ministry.  In April 1940 he transferred to the Technical Branch as an armaments officer with the rank of Group Captain and in August '42 was appointed Command Armament Officer, HQ RAF Middle East.  On 20th January 1944 he became an Armament Staff Officer, HQ Mediterranean Allied Air Forces.  Postwar he attended Joint Services Staff College and became Senior Technical Staff Officer, HQ Flying Training Command and was promoted to Air Commodore on 1st January 1951.  He completed a couse at the Imperial Defence College (I.D.C.) and in 1956, was appointed Senior Technical Staff Officer of the Far East Air Force, HQ FEAF, Changi, Singapore.  His final post in May 1959 was as Director at the Directorate of Technical Training, Controller of Engineering & Equipment at the Department of the Air, Member For Supply and Organisation, Air Ministry.  He retired in 1960 and died on 28th April 1996 at the age of 87.

Here we are offering Tindal Carilll-Worsley's No.6 Overseas/Tropical Dress jacket with the rank of Air Commodore.  The unlined lightweight jacket that appears to have never had a label, has a fabulous padded King's crown pilot wing, King's crown brass buttons/buckle, Air Commodore rank lace on the detachable epaulettes and ribbons for The Companion of the Order of the Bath (C.B.), The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.), Indian General Service Medal 1930, 1939-45 star, Africa star, Italy star, Defence medal, War medal with oak leaf clasp for mention in despatch,  General Overseas Service medal and the Coronation medal.  Although unlabelled, Tindal Carilll-Worsley has written his name, rank and service number down the rear seam.  The jacket that dates from the very early 1950s is in excellent condition and comes with some research, copy and original photographs, programmes for attending RAF Halton House Officers' Mess and another ceremonial dinner and the order of service for his funeral.  Stock code U27606.
