Drawing No. LA.613. C/1, Cheetah X. Superb laminated wooden airscrew (propeller) for the Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah radial engine. Approximately 2.4m/88" in length with a 24cm/9.5" diameter, 17cm/7" deep boss with 8 mounting holes. Finished in black with yellow painted tips and black painted brass leading edge protective strips. The boss is well marked 'DRG NO. LA.613, C/1, CHEETAH X L.H.T. D7. 33: P.6 96', HRA 17611 6/42' (June 1942) and also has A.I.D. inspection marks etc. There are a few marks here and there and a couple of small damaged areas on one edge (as shown) but the overall condition is very good and this makes an impressive display piece. 'Cheetah' engines were widely used on various WW2 RAF aircraft including the Airspeed Oxford, AVRO Anson, De Havilland Hawk Moth etc. This item is both awkward and heavy making it rather difficult to post.
