By Austin Reed. Size 6,7/8. Standard peaked cap. Very light soiling and fading. One tiny moth nip to the underside of the peak (see photo). Fitted with a very good economy type bullion badge. This needs a couple of stitches to hold the top of the crown to the cap. Good mohair band and leather 'chinstrap'. The inner leather band is a bit grubby but undamaged. The light tan satin lining is very good, retaining the central greasepaper protector.
This belonged to Pilot Officer R.W. Rooke, a Wellington (Noseart 'Popeye') Navigator with 102 Squadron, based at Pocklington in Yorkshire. He completed 30+ Operational flights. This came to us with his uniform (with original receipts) directly from his daughter. The rest of the uniform was sold last year but we are now offering his cap and photocopies of the documents shown. Good '+'/very good used condition. Stock code U18477.
