RAF Irvin flying jacket, size 7

SOLD

Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket.  Stores reference 22c/323, size 7 (Ht. 6'2"-6'4", Br. 40"-42" Wt. 36-38").  Physically measures approximately 48-49” so should be suitable for around a 44” chest.  This example is of typical early war configuration with single panel front and single seam rear panel construction.  The overall appearance is excellent, retaining virtually all of its original colour and chromed finish. There is little visible wear and no damage or repairwork whatsoever but the leather surface is heavily creased and there is some thinning, mainly at the shoulders and upper back areas.  Excellent dense medium length pile fur lining with virtually all of the trim remaining at the waist and cuffs.  The jacket retains excellent original 'D-o-T' zips - all with leather puller tags.  Complete with belt, lovely original Air Ministry label with 1940 contract date code, leather hanger and collar strap / rings and eyelets to the rear of the collar for the elastic 'collar strap' (not present).  Minor soft verdigris deposits here but this is easily removed with methylated spirits. This is the second to largest size manufactured but as with all our original clothing items, we do not endorse wearing as it could easily be damaged.  Stock code J24485.

Approximate measurements when zipped/laid flat : chest/pit to pit 24", underarm centre-seam to cuff 24.5", shoulder seam to cuff 28", neck seam to waist 27".
