Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket. Physically measures approximately 44” so should be suitable for up to around a 40” chest. This example is of four-panel front and two-panel rear construction (see photographs). The leather is in very good overall condition, appears to be strong and has excellent flexibility but is a little 'dull'. Careful application of leather dressing would probably give a better finish. There are some minor surface nicks and a couple of small holes in the zip wind flap (latter not visible when the jacket is zipped up), but these really don't detract. It also has a couple of patches sewn to the bottom of the right sleeve and another glued to the left shoulder. Investigating these on the inside reveals only small tears and the patches are really far too big for the amount of damage. All of the seam stitching appears good/tight. Fitted with its original yellow hood, this retains most of the paint and good strong colour. Excellent dense mid length fur lining with slightly shorter fur inside the hood. Whilst there is wear to the fur trim at the cuffs and waist they retain most of it. Good original belt/buckle. The jacket retains the original 'Lightning' marked main zip (has been partially restitched at some point), both sleeve zips are replacements. A good '+' solid example of the hooded pattern.
