SOLD

'Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket'.  Stores reference 22c/320.  Size 4, labelled Ht. 5'8 - 5'9", Br. 36 - 38:, Wt. 33-34".  It physically measures approximately 44” (maximum) so should be OK for around a 40” chest.  This example is of typical later war construction with a four panels main panels and two smaller panels on the front and six panels on the rear.  The leather is in very good overall condition and has much of the original chromed finish with excellent flexibility.  Some panels are thicker and more robust than others and there is light general wear, abrasion and creasing.  There are no tears or serious isses with just one near invisible stitched repair at the collar seam (see photograph).  All seams appear to be good and tight.  The overall finish is a relatively dark brown with a good even sheen (it is not as shiny as the photographs would suggest!).  All zips are of period manufacture and in good working order with original leather puller tags, the main manufactured by 'Lightning' and both sleeve zips are by 'F.F.Ltd.'  These have have Air Ministry crown marks.  The belt is very good and the collar is complete with strap/rings but was never fitted with eyelets for a strap at the back.  The lining is excellent and remains very good at the waist and cuffs.  With original label and leather hanger.  Named on the zip tape and on one of the leather binding tapes beneath the arm to Flight Lieutenant Hubert Pierce who flew as a pilot with 216 Bomber Transport squadron.  He was also the squadron's entertainment officer.  Purchased directly from the family.  A very good '+' later war example that displays well.  Stock code J27392.
