RAF Irvin flying jacket

RAF Irvin flying jacket

Code: J21936

SOLD

'Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket'.  Physically measures approximately 42” so should be OK for around a 38” chest.  This example is of  typical late war multiple panel construction.  The leather is in quite good overall condition with some panels retaining much of the original chromed finish and good flexibility.  There are no rips, tears or repairs.  However, there is some wear, abrasion and loss of chroming to some areas, notably the two lower front panels, two upper rear panels and parts of the right arm.  In addition, while some areas around the shoulders/upper body look very good, the leather is thinning and relatively weak (see photographs).  All zips are original and in good working condition, two with their original leather puller tabs.   The lining is generally excellent bar a couple of small bald patches behind the zip wind flap and in one armpit.  The fur remains quite good at the waist and both cuffs.  The seams appear to be good and tight.  Fitted wiith the original belt and collar strap/rings.  A good later war example that displays very well.   Stock code J21936.

Approximate measurements : pit to pit 21", pit to cuff 19.5", Collar seam to waist 22.5".  All taken with jacket laid flat and zipped.
