Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket. Physically measures approximately 46” so should be suitable for around a 40/42” chest. This example is essentially of four panel front (4 main + 2 small lower panels) and rear construction (see photographs). Most of the leather is in reasonably good overall condition retaining much of the original chromed finish & flexibility. It appears to be quite robust but there are a number of small nicks/holes and some of the seam bindings require restitching. Unfortunately there is a large puncture/tear on the left arm and an additional seam has been set into the sleeve just below this. The tear can be 'pushed' back into place but a new panel may need inserting to provide a strong and effective repair. The collar is in reasonable condition and is fitted with the original collar strap and rings. The belt is a bit dry, the buckle has lost some plating and one of the belt loops requires restitching at the upper end. Very good dense fur lining in the body of the jacket but there is some loss on the collar and both cuffs and waist are rather worn. The jacket has a replacement main zip but retains both original 'F.F Ltd.' marked Air Ministry sleeve zips with leather puller tabs, all in working order. The jacket is perfectly displayable but would certainly benefit from some attention. Priced accordingly. Stock code J24511.
