RAF 1941 pattern Sidcot suit liner

Code: NIV-SSL

SOLD

Lining, kapok quilted, 1941 pattern.  Stores reference 22c/853.  Size 2 (Ht. 5'3/5'6", Br. 32/34", Wt. 31/32").   Brown rayon kapok quilted one-piece liner worn beneath the 1941 pattern Sidcot flying suit.  The front of the lining is closed from the neck to the crutch and each side from the waist to the ankle by sliding zip fasteners.  An 8" zip fastener is provided at each wrist to facilitate the attachment of a pair of electrically heated gloves to an electrically heated lining when these are worn together.  A buttoned fly flap allows the airman to use the toilet without total removal of the garment.  A small slit at the waist allows egress of the supply cable from an electrically heated lining if worn.  The material is in good overall condition bar some marks/stains and fading.  From the feel of it some of the kapok has migrated around the suit leaving some areas thinner than others such as the cuffs and ankles. All zips are original and complete with puller tags.  The main front and side zips are in Air Ministry 'W' marked whilst the cuffs are smaller in gauge and A.M. marked.  With faded, partially legible label and hanging loop.  The original owner has sewn buttons around the neck, probably to attach as standard Sidcot suit collar.  Good used.  Worth more than the cost for the zips alone.  Stock code NIV-SSL.
