'Combined Flying Jacket and Light Webbing Harness for Detachable Seat Type Pack'. Extraordinarily rare 'Pilot's type' pattern of the combined flying jacket, often referred to as a 'harnessuit'. This pattern had provision for a clip-on two-point seat type parachute pack only. Manufactured from heavy olive drab cotton with twin full length front zip fasteners and zipped pockets. The suit has a small repaired tear where the rip-cord would attach and the rear internal flap that helped route the actual harness has been removed, but otherwise it is in good to very good overall condition and really quite clean. Fitted with original 'Lightning' zips - one of the main zips has damage to the teeth approximately 10cm from the bottom so this needs to remain closed but otherwise in good working order. The suit is also complete with the detachable fabric stole containing a War Department broad arrow marked, 11/44 dated inflatable stole (bladder). This appears to be in very good flexible condition complete with inflation tube/valve. The actual webbing harness is of course absent, these are near impossible to find. A superb piece of kit and useful for completing a mannequin as it removes the need for a separate parachute harness and mae-west. This pilot's variant is by far the rarest of the 3 harnessuits with only 3 known to exist worldwide including one in a museum in New Zealand, one in Mick Prodger's Luftwaffe Vs RAF which has been in my collection for 18 years, and this one. Try and find another! Stock code S29483.
