1930s Fire Blanket Container

Red painted metal container used for storing asbestos fire cloths. The cylinder is approximately 43cm tall x 18cm wide and 20 cm deep including the wall mounting brackets and clasp. Gold painted King's crown and George VI cypher plus wording ' To BE USED IN CASE OF FIRE - ASBESTOS CLOTHS'. There is paint loss and surface corrosion in places but overall condition is quite good. The inside is also painted and in good order. Empty with no dust/fibre residues and has been carefully cleaned inside. Although not Air Ministry or WD marked this is the type of fire fighting equipment found on airfields and in wartime factories etc. Although worn it has a pleasing appearance and makes a great display piece.
