Air Ministry Lloyd Loom dispersal chair

Air Ministry Lloyd Loom dispersal chair

Code: M25053

SOLD

Stores reference 21B/985. Classic Lloyd Loom armchair, model 32, as used on many wartime R.A.F. bases.  This model was produced between 1927 and 1941 and originally designed for use in British airships being relatively light yet large enough to accommodate someone with bulky clothing in the poorly heated cabin.  The size also made them highly suited for wartime aircrew and they were favoured by resting pilots due to their extremely comfortable design.  This chair is in very good used condition with a robust metal braced wooden frame complete with (worn) brass ferruled feet. The majority of the woven fibre (actually twisted paper) is excellent but there are a few small areas of minor damage and wear as shown.  The chair is stamped 'W.L. & S. Ltd' (William Lusty & Sons produced all Lloyd Loom furniture), has clear RAF stores reference marks, A.M. King's Crown marks and 1939 date.  A fabulous and extremely rare piece for your collection room. The sale does not include any of the props used in the photographs. The price is for the chair alone which is offered for collection by the buyer as too bulky/heavy to post.  Stock code M25053.

This item is only available for collection.
