Rare Air Ministry telephone similar in appearance to a standard 300 series phone but manufactured with a metal body in place of the usual bakelite. It is fitted with a single 3-position switch in place of a dial, allowing the user to select 'CALL' or 'SPEAK'. Because this switch regulates the call, no 'plungers' are fitted where the handset rests. The bakelite handset is Air Ministry marked and has the reference number 10A/12033. The phone was found with non original blue and white paint and has been refinished in black as per the only other original example we have seen. The switch moves freely and the handset is good bar a small chip. The baseplate is corroded as shown - we believe the recess may have housed a battery. The phone retains its original plaited cord and rubber feet. Displays very well. Stock code MDFGF7.
