RAF operations room raid block strength plaque '7'

RAF operations room raid block strength plaque '7'

Code: M28024

RESERVED

Raid Strength Plaque.  Headquarters Fighter Command Reference No. B.A.  Rare 'Raid Block' plaque used in RAF Filter and Sector Operations Rooms during the Battle of Britain and beyond to display important information relating an enemy raid.  The raid block itself was normally positioned at the head of the plotting path and provided information such as strength, height and whether the aircraft were 'hostile', 'friendly' or 'unknown'.  This  red plastic plaque measures approximately  1" x 0.65" / 25 x 15mm and has the number '7' engraved on it and infilled with white paint.  It would have been positioned on the raid block along with other tiles representing height, raid designation and so on.  It fits both the metal and wooden style blocks as shown but please note you are buying one single plaque - the block is shown for illustrative purposes only.  This is one of a number of more basically made plaques we have available, they are not as nicely finished as the printed type but totally original.  A fantastic opportunity to create a small Operations Room display.  Stock code M28024.
