Bakelite multi-button/line telephone as used in wartime Operations Rooms. Rectangular base with a single row of 5 push buttons and chromed metal card holder for 5 related numbers. They were also produced with double rows of 5 buttons. The cotton braided cord to the handset appears to have been replaced but interior wiring is original with early fabric covering. No history or evidence of use by the RAF but certainly of the type and makes a marvellous display. Relatively minor wear and a small hairline crack and chip on the handset. With a little effort this could have a deeper shine/lustre. Stock code M25254.
