Stores Ref. 21B/890. Wooden folding chair with slatted seat. These chairs are often seen in photographs of Battle of Britain pilots outside the station's dispersal huts. The chair is in reasonable used condition. However, It is a bit grubby, shows general wear and tear and is peppered with woodworm - notably/mainly to the base of the front legs. This has been thoroughly treated by injecting all visible holes with Cuprinol 5* woodworm killer and wood preserver. The base of the legs have also been dipped for 20 minutes in the same product. Please note that the wood is very slightly damp in places following the treatment but this surplus preserver/moisture will evaporate off in due course. The buyer may wish to remove the an inch or so off the legs or may need to use wood hardener or filler is intending to use. As usual the metal 'hinge' rod and other metal components have surface corrosion. Has clear Air Ministry markings to the base of the seat. Although the left front leg is a little 'bowed' the chair ppears to be quite sound/sturdy. Great for your collection room. Stock code M17748.
