Stores reference 21B/2119??. RAF Station wall clock with bakelite surround and wooden backbox. This is one of the relatively scarce smaller clocks that can fit better in modern homes than the larger variants normally encountered. It has an overall diameter of approximately 38cms and a 30cm white dial with Roman numerals and King's crown RAF crest. Smiths English 8-day self-starting platform escapement movement. The backbox shows some wear and knocks but is perfectly sound and the bakelite surround is in very good undamaged condition. The case is marked "Smiths" and 1944 dated. The dial has suffered a little and has staining and some paint loss, notably at the top a seen in the photographs. The clock retains the original hands and glazed spun brass bezel in good order. Good working condition and currently keeping good time. A lovely display piece in totally original unrestored condition (bar dial screws that are virtually always replaced). The dial could be repainted or improved but we would suggest that a damaged original dial is always preferable to a fully restored example. As with all clocks we would prefer this item to be collected but are willing to post worldwide at the buyer's risk. Stock code C22826.
