Large King's crown R.A.F. sign. Plywood, circular and approx. 72cm in diameter. In the form of an other ranks cap badge with elaborate fretsaw cut lettering, laurel wreath and crown in yellow, black and red tones. This would appear to be printed onto paper which has been applied to the plywood backing and then varnished over. Originally had RAF blue cloth behind the cut-out sections but this was badly mothed and had to be removed. Marked to the back '21B/NIV/2' and This could well have come from the old Derby Recruitment Centre which was operating in the town from before the start of WW2. Alternatively it could be some kind of RAF station sign.
There is soiling/small nicks to the front and small tears and peeling at the edges. Nonetheless, an impressive display piece. Large and quite heavy. Stock code M18589.
