Vintage filing drawers. Approximately 33cm wide, 41 cm deep and 25 cm tall. Each of the four drawers is the correct size to take standard 5 x 3" record cards that are still readily available at all good stationers. The frame of the box appears to be mahogany stained or veneered ply whilst the drawer fronts are sold mahogany with brass pulls having integral label holders. Each of the long drawers has an open slot along their length - this allows a wooden block to slide along and keep the record cards upright regardless of the number being held. (one drawer lacks this block).
One drawer front has a chip out of the corner and there are a few scratches and knocks here and there but overall condition is good to very good. Drawers similar to this were used in most offices (including Air Ministry), and libraries from the early part of the 20th Century until replaced by computerised records. They give an excellent period look to any display room and have a practical use for keeping records. The cards shown in the photos are not included in the sale. This is a heavy item, hence the postal costs.
