Stores reference 22c/167. The goggle frame is in very good condition with very little paint loss and relatively light pitting. The nosepiece leather and backing chamois are both very good and the original rubber facepads have been changed for modern replacements. Fitted with a pair of tinted lenses that display very well but do have minor delamination marks. This pair is fitted with the 'short loop' modification kit, stores reference 22c/455. Following assessment of the Mk.IV series it was concluded that the large fabric covered 'spring loops' could be detrimental to the fit of the goggles with the helmet. The modification kit enabled the loops to be shortened substantially and refitted using brass nuts within the guide tubes on the frame. A longer leather strap was also supplied featuring just one 'sprung' section and brass sleeves for the loops to pass through. All strap components are in excellent condition with clearly embossed Air Ministry crown, reference and maker marks. No anti-glare / flipshield fitted. A very good to excellent pair of this rare Mk.IVB variant. Stock code G16323.
