Royal Flying Corps Chartboard, MK.1. Manufactured by The General Instrument and Engineering Company Ltd., London. Wooden plotting board approximately 35.5 x 35.5cm (14 x 14") fitted with jointed/articulated brass plotting arm having an adjustable perspex rule. Made with a thumb 'cut-out' to make it easier to hold. Marked to reverse with RFC Arrow and 'A'. Also A.I.D. marked. Fitted with brass plates at the corners and with a brass 'hook' to hold papers/maps to the board. Very similar to the later WW2 aircrew issue charboards but of smaller size. An extremely rare item that makes a great display piece. Some marking and storage wear but in very good overall condition. Stock code M20252.
